A convenient cupboard is not always a valid network location. Measure the cable path, including vertical rises and bends, before fixing the cabinet.
Short answer
Horizontal copper runs stop at 90 metres of permanent link, with 10 metres left for patch cords. Cabinet placement follows that limit.
Floor plan distance is shorter than the installed route. Add risers, tray diversions, service loops and the path into the cabinet.
Label and certify every run. When a port fails later, the result sheet turns a site investigation into a direct lookup.
It fails certification even if the link still works on the day. Either move the cabinet, add an intermediate distribution point, or convert that run to fibre.
Yes, the 90 metre permanent link limit is a copper Ethernet standard, not specific to one cable grade. CAT6A changes performance at that distance, not the distance limit itself.
